The terrain is fairly a classic savannah and has a fairly consistent landscape of open grasslands which makes it easy to spot wildlife.
Maasai mara is wildly and best known for the Great wildebeest migration which occurs annually between July and September. During this time, close to 1.5 million Wildebeest, Antelopes and Zebra migrate from the Serengeti (Tanzania) to the Masai Mara (Kenya) in search of food and water. However, the migratory routes greatly depend on the weather patterns and other factors.
The reserve also boasts of around 500 bird species i.e., Ostrich, Secretary bird, Cranes, Eagles, Marabou Stock and Vultures.
